Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality. It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions, and the actions which speak louder than the words. It is making time when there is none. Coming through time after time after time. Year after year after year. Commitment is the stuff that character is made of, the power to change the pace of things. It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism.

What really matters the next time you are looking for a mortgage loan officer:

The next time you are looking to hire a new loan officer, look for the one thing you will never find on their resume. It's not their education or work experience or hobbies or anything about their personal life. It's something you can't touch . . . can't feel . . . can't smell and maybe can't even measure.

It's their attitude. Do they need to succeed or do they want to succeed? Who doesn't want to succeed? Everyone or almost everyone does. But very, very few people need to. Very few people are willing to pay the price (whatever the personal price is) to succeed. Those people will stop at nothing. For whatever personal reason motivates them and drives them, they will reach the mountaintop.

Look around you right now. You know who those people are. If you have a few 'winners', you'll see the only thing they have in common is their need-to-succeed attitude. Different backgrounds. Different selling styles. Even different skills. But the same need. The 'mental light switch' is in the on position and nothing is about to stop them. They take personal responsibility for their lives. They rarely, if ever, find excuses for anything.

So the next time you are about to locate a mortgage loan officer, forget the resume and look into their heart instead. And remember, most important, attitudes and work ethics don't change. The people you have for you today will have the same attitude and work ethic six months and six years from today.

Skills, Be it selling skills, or skills relating to the mortgage business, can be taught. Having that 'I need to succeed' light in the eye attitude - they either have it or they don't. The choice is yours.

What is the benefit for the buyer to use a loan broker?

All mortgage brokers will have access to the major Wall Street Mortgage lenders. This means more financial backing than just one mortgage company can offer.

Having many investors to sell your loan to can and should be an important issue to the client. You then obtain the mortgage loan that fits your financial situation and goals. Without the vast lenders, products and underwriters you will most of the time be told that your loan officer cannot finance you. What is really the case is that your loan officer is not a broker and cannot find a source for your exact needs.
